Twisted Captions

Game Objective:

Challenge your friends and family to create the best caption for an image in 60 seconds, by choosing from the words scattered over the table. The funniest, most twisted caption wins.

Game Setup:

Place the image cards face down in a pile in the middle of the table, next to the 60 second timer. Scatter the 350 word tiles over the table so they're all visible. Make sure that all players have enough space to create their captions.

Game Instructions / How to Play

Start by turning over the top image card and holding it up so that everyone can see it. You may need to discuss what is happening in the image to make it clear to all players, or leave it to their imagination! Place the image face up next to the image card pile, then immediately start the 60 second timer.

Players must now search through the scattered word tiles to create the funniest, most twisted caption to describe that image card. Players should pick up their chosen words and place the word tiles down in front of them to form their caption. Captions can contain any number of words. Any unused or unwanted words must be placed back into play for other players to use. As soon as the timer ends, players must immediately stop searching for and collecting tiles. Players now take it in turns to read out their captions aloud.

Everyone then votes on which caption they think is the funniest. Players can’t vote for their own captions.
The winner of the round gets to keep the image card to keep score.

Before starting the next round all used word tiles should be returned to the centre where they can be used again for the next round.

In the event of a tie where a clear winner cannot be decided, the players with the most joint votes must battle to decide on a winner of the round. The battling players have ten seconds to find and grab one single word to best describe the same new image. Players may not select a word that has already been used in this round, instead they must find a new unused word.

The first person to collect 5 image cards wins the game, and is crowned the funniest and most twisted.

Gameplay variations:

The pack includes 10 blank tiles which can be used in different ways:
- Each player receives one blank tile to use once during the game. This can become any word the player chooses.
- Use a pen to write on the tiles to create your own words. You can choose to write the same words on both sides, or write a unique word on each, giving you up to 20 new words to make captions with.
