Wishing hadn’t bought it!

I bought these from Oliver Bonus and my 6 year old was looking really forward to to me completing the pug. A disaster of an experience and my son ended up really upset. Instructions are terrible, do not even show them as printed just blank. The fiddly folds are no clearer on the video which is blank paper. I think the images on the box are all fake. I’m used to making models so consider myself perfectly cable of doing something like this - but alas.

Not worth the trouble or effort to even try.

Very poor instructions - virtually impossible to make

Firstly, according to your site I have a genuine pack of Pik koi dogs and was purchased from a legitimate retail shop. Unfortunately the printed instructions are very unclear and are different to the videos. Eg the French bulldog video instructions show the paper being turned over which is absent on the printed version, there are also extra folds on the video. The videos are also unclear with hands obscuring the view and poor explanation of how to make the folds (and the music is highly irritating when having to go over the same instruction time and time again). Very poor product indeed!!

We've been experiencing an increase in illegitimate AI copies of our Paper Pups on sites like Temu and Amazon. These copies are incredibly poor, don't match our designs, and come with instructions that are practically impossible to follow.

However, if you're using our original Paper Pups and have found the instructions tricky, we'd love to understand where you've struggled and see if we can help!

Cute dog, instructions awful, only buy if experienced

When you get it to work, these look fantastic. But the instructions are very difficult to follow. There's a youtube channel, but they don't use the right paper (plain paper, no dog) so it's really hard to understand what he's doing. And then sometimes he makes like 6 complicated folds and the instructions might as well just say 'and make an origami dog'. I've managed to get the golden retriever to work, but the cavapoo is really badly done, there's a bit in the Youtube video at 49:40 where he just says nothing, does a load of folds that you can't see behind his hand, and an origami dog appears.

I notice many review responses are blaming knockoff AI copies from Temu rather than accepting criticism. I highly doubt this to be honest, given the issues are with their own Youtube video instructions.

Thank you for your honest feedback. We’re glad you got the golden retriever to work, but we’re sorry the instructions have made the experience frustrating, especially with the cavapoo.

We understand your point about our responses mentioning counterfeits. Unfortunately, there are many copies being sold online, with differences in print quality and how the paper folds, which is why we try to verify the product. That isn’t intended to dismiss criticism of our own instructions, and we’re sorry it has come across that way.

We use plain paper in the videos to make the folds easier to see, as some of the darker printed designs can obscure them. However, we appreciate that this can make it harder to match what you’re seeing to the dog design in your hands.

At 49:40, the paper accidentally slips and the demonstrator repositions it. There aren’t any additional folds at that point, but without an explanation, and with his hands obscuring the view, we can understand why it looks like you’ve missed a step.

Poor, frustrating instruction video (and written ones only for an expert)

Terrible instructions. eg. it says to "fold down to lines" that aren't there, it says to "push in" which is unclear how you do it. Make them slower. Did they test any of these instructions on people less familiar with origami?

Terrible.

Instructions are useless and don’t match the printed sheets, and seem to skip forward a few steps in one go.
Video is equally useless with vague instructions like “fold the edge to the line”. Which “edge”? Which line?!!!!!
Also needs someone with smaller fingers doing the video so we can actually see what’s going on.
Paper also tears far too easily.
Rather poor.
